Event description

What is ELEV8?
ELEV8 is a longitudinal leadership program specifically designed by The Liminal Space to elevate the capabilities and effectiveness of participants via the study of eight critical tools they need in their toolboxes:

  1. Understanding and adapting leadership style(s)
  2. Nurturing feedback-rich cultures
  3. Working effectively with challenging people and leading difficult conversations
  4. Forming and leading high-performing teams
  5. Effectively leading change
  6. Developing leadership motivation and self-efficacy
  7. Enhancing bravery and resilience
  8. Amplifying grit and determination

Who is the target audience?
ELEV8 is unlike any other leadership program in Australia. It's a genuinely vertical program that targets aspiring and existing leaders from Western Australian Government, Catholic and Independent schools and systems. The program sees teachers and non-teaching staff joining first-time, middle, senior and executive leaders in the same room - learning with and from one another!

How large is the cohort?
The ELEV8 cohort is restricted to a maximum of 30 participants.

What are the workshop dates?
ELEV8 is convened over 5 workshops spanning a 6-month timeframe. Workshop One represents a full day (9:00am - 4:00pm) of professional learning whilst Workshops Two through Five are half days (e.g. 8:30am - 1:00pm).

Workshop One: Wednesday, 8 May 2024 (Term 2, Week 4) from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Workshop Two: Tuesday, 4 June 2024 (Term 2, Week 8) from 8:30 am - 1:00 pm
Workshop Three: Friday, 19 July 2024 (Term 3, Week 1) from 8:30 am - 1:00 pm
Workshop Four: Tuesday, 13 August 2024 (Term 3, Week 5) from 8:30 am - 1:00 pm
Workshop Five: Monday, 9 September 2024 (Term 3, Week 9) from 8:30 am - 1:00 pm

Who are the facilitators?
Program workshops are designed and facilitated by Dr Shane Glasson (Founder, The Liminal Space) with input from expert co-facilitators, Daniel Groenewald and Brendan Spillane.

Where is the venue?
All workshops are facilitated at The Australian Institute of Management, Western Australia - the state's premier Leadership and Management training facility located at 76 Birkdale Street, Floreat WA.

What does ELEV8 cost?
The cost of The ELEV8 Leadership Mastery Program is AUD $1,350 (ex-GST) per participant or AUD $270 (ex-GST) per workshop. The per participant fee is discounted by 35%, usually $2,000 (ex-GST). Note: AUD $135 (10% GST) is added at payment.

What is included?
Workshops offer practical insights and strategies to enhance leadership effectiveness by creating micro-shifts in participant thinking and behaviours, over time leading to significant changes in leadership style. This aspect of the program is based on the wisdom of James Clear, author of the best-selling book Atomic Habits.

Between workshops, participants will work with a colleague from their cohort, a Program Travel Partner (PTP), using a coaching approach. These conversations also allow participants to reflect on and amplify a selected leadership strength revealed by the program and work to close an identified gap. Although travel partners determine the frequency of their conversations, it is recommended that they meet between workshops to maximise reflection and learning.

The program fee also includes:

  • A hard-copy of James Clear's New York Times best-selling book, Atomic Habits
  • Access to the wisdom of three educational leadership development experts: Dr Shane Glasson, Daniel Groenewald and Brendan Spillane (see facilitator biographies)
  • All program resources and activities
  • A certificate of completion indicating 33 hours of professional learning for Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia Professional Renewal purposes
  • A citation (program description) mapped to The Australian Institute for School Leadership Professional Standard for Principals
  • Voluntary, confidential access to a trained Executive Coach between workshops to discuss program learning and/or challenging leadership scenarios
  • Venue parking
  • Continuous tea and coffee, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea for Workshop One
  • Continuous tea and coffee and morning tea for Workshops Two-Five
