    Nau mai haere mai Electra Business Breakfast is looking forward to welcoming Waka Kotahi NZTA, Craig Nicholson and from Ventia, Anthony Green.  Craig will speak about the construction of Transmission Gully and what it provides in terms of road safety, resilience, capacity and travel time reliability.  Anthony will speak about its role operating the new motorway for the next 25 years.

    Transmission Gully is a game changer for economic development in Kāpiti – this session will offer valuable insights from Waka Kotahi and Ventia.

    • Transmission Gully is one of the most significant and complex new roading projects in New Zealand, spanning 27 kilometres of challenging terrain that has required innovative environmental and construction techniques.
    • Transmission Gully is New Zealand’s first transport infrastructure project to be delivered under a Public Private Partnership (PPP).
    • Wellington Gateway Partnership (WGP) is the PPP contractor.  CPB HEB Joint Venture is the joint venture sub-contracted by WGP to design and build the project. Ventia is the company sub-contracted by WGP to operate and maintain the motorway for 25 years.
    • Ventia is one of the largest essential service providers in New Zealand and Australia.  It provides long term management of critical public and private assets and infrastructure.
    • Ventia’s job is to operate the motorway 24/7.  This involves handling emergencies, traffic management and responding to incidents or events.

    Electra Business Breakfast can operate at the Karaka Orange traffic light with no limits on attendance, you just need to wear a mask when you are not eating. We no longer need to seat, separate or serve our guests so when you arrive, you will choose your own random table number – seating will be tables of eight. Our caterer will be masked and serve everyone from the buffet. When the crew ask you to be seated and masked, please follow our instructions at all times for the safety of you, the crew and the venue, ka pai.

    We will keep you informed along the way of any changing circumstances, and if Covid prevents us from operating, we will reschedule first and then transfer or refund tickets as needed. If it’s been three months since your second dose, get boosted for you, your whānau, your community, and please don’t attend if you are feeling unwell or are a household contact of someone isolating.

    About the Speakers:

    Craig Nicholson

    Craig is a Civil Engineer, who has been Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency’s Principal Project Manager for the Transmission Gully project since early 2009 and has been involved in the project since late 2006. Craig has 30 years’ experience in traffic engineering, road safety engineering and project management. Most of his experience is on State Highway projects within New Zealand, but he also has project experience in Jordan, Malaysia and Bhutan.

    Anthony Green

    Anthony is a Project Manager, who has over 25 years of commercial and civil experience in construction in New Zealand and Australia.  Anthony specialises in complex infrastructure projects and has worked on every kind of project you can imagine, including roading, commercial and domestic housing, forestry, airports, farming, military, council, schools, hospitals and even fish farms!  He is Ventia's Project Director for Transmission Gully Motorway.
