Why do some kink experiences leave us feeling euphoric, energized, and connected, while others are followed by exhaustion, sadness, irritability, or emotional distress? What happens in our brains and bodies during intense experiences, and why can the effects linger long after a scene or event has ended?

This class explores the neuroscience and psychology behind drop, including how our nervous systems respond to intense physical, emotional, and social experiences. We'll examine the roles of stress responses, neurotransmitters, hormones, emotional regulation, and individual differences in shaping what we experience during and after kink.

We'll also challenge common assumptions about drop, including whether it's inevitable, what actually causes it, and why traditional approaches to aftercare don't always address someone's needs. Along the way, we'll discuss factors that may contribute to drop, how to recognize different responses, and practical strategies for prevention, preparation, and recovery. Finally, we'll discuss ways of building a drop risk profile and tracking patterns to improve your relationship to drop and ability to navigate it.

Whether you're a top, bottom, switch, or someone who supports others through intense experiences, this class offers a deeper understanding of what we know, what we're still learning, and how to use that knowledge to make more informed decisions about play and aftercare.

Ember Solaris (they/she) is a Sadistic D-type leaning switch and social scientist who infuses her passion for research into every class she presents. A professional information sponge and infodumper, Ember's classes combine depth, passion, ferocity, and ethical complexity.

Ember collaborates with their co-organizer Ms_Kitten_ to run the Let it Reign and Reign of Blood platforms to provide quality, accessible kink education across experience levels, interests, and intensity preferences.
