The ODDyssesy Tributes Launch
Description
A portal has opened from which emerges a bustling ethereal ship. Spectral forms pour from the deck that appear to be writhing, pulsing… dancing? In collaboration with Scarlett Mustang of Menagerie of Misfits, The ODDyssey is a dream that we will collectively materialise into reality.
A group of 8 Heroes, seasoned local artists will mentor 8 emerging Tributes from burlesque, drag, and pole dancing communities in response to the magical call of The ODDyssey. Will you accept your fate?
You are magically invited to the Tributes Launch event to meet the 8 ODDyssey Tributes who will showcase their talents to the audience and 8 mentors. Reflecting their signature style, each Tribute has the opportunity (and 8m of runway) to introduce us to their art as we launch the program. This event will also include the allocation ritual, where each Tribute will be randomly assigned their Erotika Dabra track which they will perform to at the November 28 event at Casino Canberra.
The event will run for 90 minutes, and will include light refreshments available. If you wish to participate in the raffle and stalls, doors open from 5:30pm.
About The ODDyssey
Embarking in August and culminating in November, The ODDyssey is a performance and mentorship program in collaboration with Menagerie of Misfits aiming to bring emerging artists together with eight established mentors. The series is designed to spotlight new talent, build creative relationships, and give performers a pathway to meaningful artistic development while celebrating Canberra's local arts culture.
Across these 4 months, performers will take part in three distinct phases:
The Tributes Launch August 22 at The Brass Room Fyshwick
The Perilous Journey mentoring events
The Arrival November 28 at Casino Canberra
Each phase offers different opportunities to perform, grow their skills, and be noticed in all of their ODD glory. The ODDyssey journey will be a YouTube mini series being released upon completion of the program.
