Description

In Conversation with Joelle Camille

Stories and Stanza is a podcast where diverse stories meet — honest conversations about resilience, identity, mental health and the human experience. Since launching in January 2024, the show has brought together authentic voices from around the world, charting in the Top 100 Mental Health category across the US, UK and Canada.

Why we do this

Stories and Stanza Live is the in-person extension of the podcast — a community initiative built on the belief that meaningful conversations shouldn't only happen through a screen. These events are designed to create a space where people can sit together, listen to each other and feel less alone in what they're going through. They are not commercial — tickets only cover the cost of running the event. The goal is simple: to bring wellbeing conversations into local communities, one room at a time.

About this event

Our first live event brought author Sarah Rosse into conversation about identity, resilience and the power of writing. You can read about how that evening unfolded here: https://storiesandstanza.substack.com/p/it-happened-and-you-had-to-be-there

This time, we're turning the conversation to something many people feel deeply but rarely talk about openly — men's mental health.

Our guest is Joelle Camille — somatic therapist, body-brain rewiring practitioner, men's coach, speaker and facilitator. Joelle's mission is to support men to clear the mental debris and become everything they want to be. She doesn't teach men how to be men — she helps them understand what's getting in the way: the generational patterns, the silent struggles, the belief that they should be able to sort it out on their own.

In our first podcast conversation, Joelle and host Abhra explored failure through the lens of men's wellbeing — why men tie their identity to being the provider, how defence mechanisms built in childhood show up decades later, and what it actually feels like when the weight lifts. You can listen to that episode here: https://youtu.be/JZIXV4L2JJk

This live event picks up where that conversation left off. We'll go deeper into what emotional intelligence looks like in practice — in relationships, in parenting, in how men show up for themselves and the people around them. And as always, this isn't a one-way conversation. The audience will have the opportunity to interact with Joelle, ask questions and be part of the discussion.
