Who's your Lead Chef of the night?
Mitch is a chef with over 15 years of experience in hospitality, where food has always been about more than just feeding people—it’s about creating moments, memories, and connection.
Throughout his career, Mitch became fascinated by how flavour, texture, aroma, and even sound shape the way we experience food. This curiosity led him to explore how removing or heightening certain senses can completely change what we taste and how we enjoy it.
Through hands-on exercises and playful experimentation, Mitch invites students to slow down, get curious, and rediscover food through all five senses.
FAQs
- Can I come alone?
Absolutely! While the experience is Valentine's-themed, we're celebrating all kinds of love whether that be romantic, platonic, self or otherwise.
- Will I be paired with someone if I attend alone?
Most cooking prep will be done independently but at a group table so it is still a social and welcoming experience for all.
- Do I need prior cooking experience?
Not at all! This class is beginner-friendly and focused on sensory exploration rather than technical skills.
- Are there accomodations for specific dietary needs/allergies?
Please let us know about any allergies or dietary needs at checkout or by contacting us in advance. We’ll do our best to accommodate where possible.
- What makes this a "sensory" cooking class?
You'll be guided through intentional sensory moments and exercises focusing on aromas, textures, sound, taste and visual presentation. This is to invite embodiment and connection with the food, self and each other.
- What should I wear?
Comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes are recommended. Aprons will be provided and will also be available for purchase.
- What's the parking/transport situation?
63 Little Mount Street is close to bus stops and the Fish Market light rail station. We recommend taking public transport where possible, as paid street parking is available but with 2 hour limits.
