Time: 1pm - 4pm

Location

North Fremantle Community Hall, Thompson Road, North Fremantle WA 6159

Theatre of the Oppressed (TO) is a social justice theatre that came from Sao Paulo Brazil. The founder of TO, Augusto Boal developed a series of imaginative theatre exercises which promote awareness. As a result, we can see our social situation, its limitations, individual attitudes, and even how our minds and bodies are bound by traditions and cultures.

Theatre Games workshops is an everyday theatre for actors and non-actors. Therefore, it's for anyone who wants to enjoy building a community. The exercises and games while fun and playful, strengthen the psyche and feed the soul.

Theatre Games workshops turn our collective stories into ART.

Theatre Games uses games from Theatre of the Oppressed and Theatre for Living.

Above all, theatre games are wonderful. Theatre games allow us to access our senses and our creative mind. We use our bodies to make shapes, gestures, sounds, and movements. We witness our stories together in ways that surprise and delight.
Theatre Games dissolve stresses. As a result, we feel safe in the ensemble. We can share our stories and our place in the community.

This work is inspiring to actors and non-actors, artists, community leaders, teachers, and anyone who wants to find new resources inside themselves and their group. Above all, Theatre for Living (David Diamond) takes Theatre of the Oppressed, to a new level in the art and science of community-based dialogue.
What people are saying:

"Theatre for Living workshops create a place of safety and acceptance in a group experience of acting and acting out ( not just thinking or talking about it). Situations in my life or one of the others are represented by images. Language is taken out of it. An experienced Facilitator/Joker helps to empower me to make and step toward change to what I want in that situation in my life. WOW!".
