There’s No Place Embroidery Workshop
Event description
Jakkai Siributr’s ongoing project There’s No Place is a collaborative embroidery installation that explores themes of identity, belonging, and home. It creates a dialogue between the displaced Shan communities of Thailand, particularly residents of the Koung Jor Shan Refugee Camp (KJSRC), and audiences around the world.
Through ‘call and response’ workshop sessions, participants are invited to embroider images or text onto cloth panels that have already been stitched by members of the Shan community, fostering a shared, cross-cultural conversation.
The workshop will begin with a video introduction to the project from the artist and facilitated by textile artist, clothing maker and sewist of all things, Shaye Hardisty. All materials are provided and the finished embroideries will be shipped to the artist and be included in future exhibitions of the project.
