Description

Step Up, Lace Up, Take Action!

Join us this World AIDS Day period for the return of the Thorne Harbour Health Red Ribbon Run 2026—a community-driven, non-competitive fun run and walk that welcomes people of all ages, fitness levels and abilities.

Held around the beautiful Albert Park Lake, the Red Ribbon Run brings our community together to raise awareness and vital funds for people living with HIV while recognising that HIV Still Matters.

Whether you choose to walk, jog or run, every step you take helps support Thorne Harbour Health's HIV programs and community services.

Together we honour those we've lost, celebrate the resilience of people living with HIV, and continue working towards a future free from stigma.

Sponsors to be announced shortly!

FAQs

  • Where do proceeds from fundraising go?

All proceeds raised from the Red Ribbon go towards our HIV services and programs such as the David Williams Fund.

Established in 1986 with a $1,000 donation from the friends and family of David Williams, one of the early Australians to die as a result of AIDS, the Fund was created to help people live, and, at the time, die, with dignity. Today, thanks to advances in HIV treatment, DWF continues David’s legacy by helping people living with HIV build stability, independence, and financial resilience.

Through financial counselling, advocacy, and practical assistance, DWF supports people to navigate debt, access essential services, manage their finances, and obtain critical items such as groceries, medical supplies, and household necessities.

The DWF is funded entirely by fundraising. Your support helps ensure that people living with HIV are not left behind and can access the assistance they need to live with dignity, safety, and hope.

  • How much was raised in 2025?

Last year, our Red Ribbon Run raised an incredible $10,000 from runner fundraising, bequests and sponsorship. This was alongside a further $5,000 raised through our World AIDS Day Appeal. Together, our community raised $15,000 to support Thorne Harbour Health’s vital HIV services and programs.

  • Is there a bag check?

Yes, we will provide a staffed bag check marquee. You will receive a label for your bag at check in.

  • Is there a age limit

All ages are welcome and encouraged to attend. Any runners under the age of 16 participating, they will need to be accompanied by an adult.

  • Are dogs welcome?

Yes! If you are running or walking with your dog(s) just be mindful of others.

  • Do I have to fundraise?

While fundraising isn't mandatory, please be aware that the registration fee only covers event costs – any additional fundraising directly supports our HIV services.

  • How to I create my fundraising page

If you have opted to fundraise, we encourage you to create your own page via the Zeffy platform.

We have created a step by step guide to help you set up your page.
