Tihi Hauora Matihiko
Event description
Tihi Hauora Matihiko
Monday 27th November 2023 - Claudelands Event Centre, Kirikiriroa
We welcome you to register for this summit with a difference.
Aiming for the 'tihi' by maximising the opportunities within data and digital health for, and led by, Māori and Pacific peoples.
Tihi Hauora Matihiko is a one-day summit dedicated to exploring and celebrating the contributions of Māori and Pacific peoples in the ever-expanding domain of data and digital innovation within the health sector and beyond.
The objective of this day is to delve into the opportunities that lie ahead in Māori and Pasifika data and digital health, and to acknowledge the exciting work that is already happening. We will explore three core areas.
- Key areas of data sovereignty and equity
- Examples of Māori and Pasifika digital health in action
- Leading edge mahi by Māori and Pasifika commercial organisations and NGOs
Each core area will begin with a panel of short presentations to set the scene and identify the opportunities. These will then be workshopped in small groups with the input from each group brought together on the day to provide a collective summary.
Te Kaupapa mō te rā
(how the day will flow)
Our complimentary coffee cart and Registration Desk will open in The Concourse, ground level at the venue from 8am. We will gather outside the room between 8am and 8.50am to be ready for the Mihi whakatau at 9am.
The formalities of the day will be guided by representatives from the five Iwi of Kirikiriroa - Ngaati Wairere, Ngaati Hauaa, Ngaati Korokii Kahukura, Ngaati Mahanga and Ngaati Tamainupo.
And, of course, we will break for delicious kai and korero during the Tihi.
Our partners
Through valued partnerships with Te Aka Whai Ora and Te Whatu Ora and our specific event partners - Spark Health, Whanau Tahi, Wild Bamboo, Noted and Accenture Aotearoa, Microsoft, and investment from HiNZ, this has allowed us to subsidise the cost of participation for this first year. This means the registration fee has been reduced from $850 to $150 (+GST) per person.
Facilitation of the day
The MC for the day will be Ngahihi o te ra Bidois the “The Face of New Zealand”. Ngahi is a professional motivational speaker who has presented award winning keynotes to organisations around the world, and we are delighted to have him host, alongside our own HiNZ CEO Tim Corbett who will facilitate our workshop sessions.
The event will end with relaxing korero over kai, offering the chance to weave connections that we hope will facilitate ongoing mahi in this important area.
To ensure an engaging experience, we have opted for a workshop format with limited participant numbers. Our aim is to include as many members of the Māori and Pacific peoples data and digital health community as possible and we encourage you to share this invitation within your networks.
Given the overwhelming interest we have received so far, we anticipate that spaces will be filled quickly so please secure your spot by registering as soon as possible.
Recording, filming and photography disclaimer
To ensure we capture the best moments of the day, the event will be recorded, filmed, and photographed and these may be used by HiNZ for educational purposes and to promote the event in future years. We would like to let you know that by registering for this event, you are giving permission for HiNZ to use any filming, images, and recordings. However, if you have any concerns, we will be happy to discuss these with you. Please contact the event organiser here.
