FAQs

• Where are Tiny Teach classes held?

  Tiny Teach classes are held inside Denman Village Community Centre, next to the childcare centre.
  

  When you arrive, head into the community centre and follow the signs for Tiny Teach.

• What if we arrive late?

  That’s completely fine. Come in whenever you arrive.

  Tiny Teach is designed to be flexible and child-led, so families can settle in and join the play when they get there. There is no disruption to the session if you arrive part way through.

• Is there a change table available?

  Yes. The community centre has baby change facilities available for families to use during class.

• Is there lift access for prams?

  Yes. The building has a lift, making it easy to bring prams upstairs to the class space.

• Is there parking nearby?

  Yes. There is free parking directly out the front of Denman Village Community Centre, making it easy to access the venue.

• What age is Tiny Teach for?

  Tiny Teach is designed for babies and toddlers aged 0-3 years, with mixed-age classes that support social learning and development through play.

• Do I need to bring anything?

  Just yourself and your little one.
  All play materials and resources are provided.

  You may wish to bring:
  • A water bottle
  • Snacks for after class
  • A spare change of clothes for your child if they enjoy sensory play

• Can siblings attend?

  Yes. Tiny Teach classes are designed for babies and toddlers aged 0-3 years, and the play environment is intentionally open-ended so children at different stages can explore in their own way.

  Mixed ages often enrich the experience; younger babies observe, older toddlers lead play, and everyone engages with the materials at their own developmental level.

• When do classes run?

  Our next Tiny Teach term runs for 10 weeks.

  Thursday classes:
  23 July - 25 September

  Friday classes:
  24 July - 26 September

  Each class runs once per week at your chosen time across the 10-week term.

  If you miss a session, you are welcome to attend another class if a space is available. Please follow the Terms and Conditions for make up classes.

• What happens in a Tiny Teach class?

  Each session begins with a short group time together including music and movement, helping children settle into the space and connect as a group.

  From there, children move into a thoughtfully prepared play environment with a range of open-ended materials and sensory experiences designed to support early development.

  Children are free to explore at their own pace while parents observe, play alongside them and learn how development unfolds through play.

  Throughout the session, I share insights about what children are learning through their play; from communication and movement to problem solving and social connection.

  We finish the session by coming back together to close the class as a group.

• Is Tiny Teach like a playgroup?

  Tiny Teach is similar to a playgroup in that families gather together, but the sessions are carefully designed and facilitated by a qualified teacher.

  The play environments are intentionally set up to support communication, cognitive development, movement and social learning, while still allowing children the freedom to explore and lead their play.

  Parents are encouraged to ask questions about their child’s development during the session, and each term we also welcome special guest professionals such as occupational therapists, speech pathologists and physiotherapists who attend classes and share their expertise with families.

  Parents leave with simple ideas they can use at home, as well as a deeper understanding of their child’s development.

• What if my child just watches?

  That’s completely okay.

  Many babies and toddlers begin by observing the space and other children before joining in. Watching is an important part of learning and helps children feel comfortable and confident in a new environment.

  There is no pressure to participate in any particular activity. Children are free to explore when they feel ready.

• What should my child wear?

  We recommend comfortable clothes that allow movement and play.

  Some activities may involve sensory materials such as water, rice or oats, so clothes that can get a little messy are ideal.

• Can I take ideas home?

  Absolutely. Many parents say this is one of their favourite parts of Tiny Teach.

  Throughout the session, I share simple explanations of the learning happening in play, along with ideas for activities you can easily recreate at home.
