Tomorrow's River: Reimagining Connection with a Climate-resilient Birrarung
Event description
What if we thought like a river? What if our connection with the Birrarung river shifted? Regen Melbourne, the Climate Change Exchange and WonderLab invite researchers, policy makers and practitioners who work at the confluence of climate adaptation and water sensitive planning to a Tomorrow party: a co-creative, future-oriented gathering centred on the Birrarung’s resilience.
Through story-making and time-travelling, we’ll explore how reimagining our relationship with water might unlock new pathways for just and transformative adaptation futures. This three-act experience invites participants to connect through river stories, create a sense of community through time-travel into possible futures, and pathways forward to carry momentum beyond the event. Together, we’ll ask: What might it mean to centre the river in our work? How do we see ourselves within the water cycle? What could emerge when we act together with care, creativity, and shared agency in service of the Birrarung?
This event is being presented by Regen Melbourne, in partnership with Monash University’s WonderLab and the Climate Change Exchange.
Accessibility: This event is wheelchair friendly. Riverfest welcomes everyone—we’re committed to making our events accessible and inclusive for people of all abilities. If you have accessibility needs and require support to attend, please email carolyn.tate@yarrariver.org.au

Acknowledgement of Country
The Yarra Riverkeeper Association acknowledges that the lands and waterways of the Yarra, Birrarung catchment, are the unceded territories of the Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung and Bunurong peoples. We pay respect to Traditional Owners, who have, and continue, to care for Country. We acknowledge that the river now called Yarra has always been known as the Birrarung by its custodians.
