Tone List presents: Current Bias (Pōneke), Ellay W (Tāmaki Makaurau), Montana
Event description
Tone List returns with another of our intermittent experimental club nights. Come down to the Bird for off-kilter DJ sets pushing and pulling between the rapidfire rhythms of jungle & footwork and the introspective textures of downtempo, ambient & electroacoustic music. Or, in less coded words: a show of unpredictable, sonically immaculate and really fun music to get moved by.
Current Bias has been working at a textured & wild approach to dance music since relocating from Boorloo to Te-Whanganui-a-Tara some years ago. With a digital, ambient & electroacoustic sound palette, their music is adventurous, playful and joyously weird, driven by rhythms that morph and evolve.

Ellay W heads up Phys Ed, an esteemed Tāmaki Makaurau-based platform for unorthodox club music. He'll be dovetailing with Current Bias to finish the night. Ellay W's sets trend towards synthetic sound design and high tempo twitching rhythms.

Boorloo's own Montana works on the contemplative mix series Personal Space and has been increasingly venturing into her own live performances of meditative music informed by the the soft-focus sound worlds of dream pop, downtempo & shoegaze. She'll open the night with a DJ set.
