Tool Teardown & Tea
Description
Ever wondered what power tools look like on the inside? How they work? Or why they break?
Well, we think the best way to learn how something works is often to take it apart.
Get involved with the Edinburgh Tool Library's repair community and join us in a casual evening with tea, tools, tinkering and time to get stuck in.
The tool library repair team keep items going as long as they can, but there comes a time when tools can’t be repaired anymore. We’ve been collecting these tools in our “Space for Waste” so we can get our community together, create opportunities for collective curiosity and knowledge sharing about how things work and how to do repairs.
A broken tool is a perfect opportunity to tinker to your hearts content, and gain some confidence in taking things apart (and how to put them back together).
At the end of the night we’re hoping everyone will grown their curiosity in repairs and gained a bit of confidence, and as a bonus we’ll be harvesting parts from broken tools for future repairs, and breaking down broken tools for better recycling as best we can.
