Towards a Better Life: A Two Day Introduction to Social Role Valorisation (SRV) - 2 Day Workshop - Burwood, Sydney
About this Workshop:
Learn a framework that helps give meaning and depth and helps to make the most of contemporary
opportunities! This workshop explores how getting valued roles can lead to changed societal perceptions
and strengthen the likelihood that people with a devalued status will get a better life.
The core themes and principles of SRV will be explored through presentations, exercises and discussions.
Completion allows entry to the 5 day practicum, PASSING.
Who Should Attend:
This workshop is designed for participants from a range of sectors (disability, aged care, mental
health, youth etc). This will include support workers, coordinators, family members, people with
disabilities, people with a mental illness and older people receiving services. Participants will
be people who are looking for ways of meeting the real needs of marginalised people, resulting in a
better lives.
Workshop details:
- Thursday 24 and Friday 25 October (participants must attend both days)
- On day 1, please arrive at 8:30 AM to sign in, for an 9:00 AM start. Concludes at 5:00 PM.
- On day 2, please arrive at 8:30 AM to sign in, for a 9:00 AM start. Concludes at 5:00 PM.

- Parking: Free parking available on site
- Transport: Accessible via Train and Bus.
Cost:
- Standard: $385 plus booking fees - This rate if for professionals
- Concession: $130 plus booking fees - This rate if for people with disability and family members
- Morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea will be provided. Please note any essential dietary requirements in your registration.

committed to improving the lives of people who are marginalised in society.
Our aim is to challenge, inspire and encourage individuals and organisations to pursue better lives for people who are at risk of being devalued, by promoting the principles and practice of Social Role Valorisation (SRV).

- Promoting greater awareness and understanding of Social Role Valorisation theory and its related concepts.
- Conducting training events/workshops that focus on the awareness of the circumstances of people who are devalued by society, and offer positive strategies for creating the conditions which are more likely to lead to a better life for those people
- Sponsoring or supporting events which challenge ideas.
- Supporting individual leadership development, consistent with the principles of Social Role Valorisation.
- Nurturing and supporting the development of a network of individuals committed to promoting positive lifestyles for people who are at risk of being marginalised.
