We invite you to register for a two-day foundational SRV workshop, Towards a Better Life, to be held in Macquarie Park, Sydney in June 2026.

Join us to learn about Social Role Valorisation and its practical applications from our interstate presenters Kylie Duncis and Amie Storer.

This workshop is a popular event. Places are limited, so please secure your place to avoid disappointment.

About this workshop

Learn a framework that helps give meaning and depth and helps to make the most of contemporary opportunities! This workshop explores how getting valued roles can lead to changed societal perceptions and strengthen the likelihood that people with a devalued status will get a better life.

The core themes and principles of SRV will be explored through presentations, exercises and discussions.

Completion allows entry to the 5-day practicum, PASSING.

Who Should Attend:

This workshop is designed for participants from a range of sectors (senior and aged services, disability, mental health, youth etc). This will include team leaders, coordinators, support workers, family members, people with disability, people with a mental illness and older people receiving services.

Team leaders and managers looking for more contemporary approaches to support will also find this course valuable. Participants will be people who are looking for ways of meeting the real needs of marginalised people, resulting in better lives.

Workshop details:

Thursday 4 and Friday 5 June 2026 (participants must attend both days)
9:00 am to 5:00 pm on both days (Please arrive by 8:30 am).

The venue: Quest Macquarie Park
Address: 71 Epping Road Macquarie Park
Parking: Free outside carpark parking
Transport: Macquarie Park Metro station a short walk away
If not from Sydney, accommodation can be booked at the venue subject to room availability.

Cost:

Standard: $400 plus booking fee - This rate is for professionals
Concession: $150 plus booking fee - This rate is for people with disability and family members
Morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea will be provided. Please note any essential dietary requirements in your registration.

However, we recognise that the cost of the workshop may prevent some people from registering. Refund policy

Cancellation Policy Late cancellations can result in a considerable loss of income and cost to Foundations Forum as we have to commit to venue, catering and travel expenses prior to events. We acknowledge that there are a number of unexpected circumstances that can make it difficult for people to attend events and we are open to requests for a refund after the 1-week date in exceptional situations. If Foundations Forum has to cancel an event we will offer a full refund. For all events if a cancellation is made: • 1+ weeks before the event, a full refund will be given • Within a week of the event, a 50% refund will be given • However, in all cases an eligible substitute registrant may attend. Substitution: If, after booking an event the person is unable to attend, they are welcome to nominate someone else to attend in their place at no additional cost. We appreciate advice of substitutions in writing so a correct name tag will be available at the registration desk and dietary needs are recorded.

Foundations Forum is a New South Wales (NSW) non-profit organisation formed in 1985 by a group of individuals committed to improving the lives of people who are marginalised in society.

Our aim is to challenge, inspire and encourage individuals and organisations to pursue better lives for people who are at risk of being devalued, by promoting the principles and practice of Social Role Valorisation (SRV).

We seek to achieve this through

Promoting greater awareness and understanding of Social Role Valorisation theory and its related concepts.
Conducting training events/workshops that focus on the awareness of the circumstances of people who are devalued by society, and offer positive strategies for creating the conditions which are more likely to lead to a better life for those people
Sponsoring or supporting events which challenge ideas.
Supporting individual leadership development, consistent with the principles of Social Role Valorisation.
Nurturing and supporting the development of a network of individuals committed to promoting positive lifestyles for people who are at risk of being marginalised.
