Event description
TOXIC SURF [Mid Coast] brings together local artists, scientists, surfers, divers, environmental stewards, activists, ecological grief counsellors, researchers, affected industries, First Nations voices and ocean-loving community members to bring awareness to the long-standing calls to protect our waterways. With feature artist: Christian Lock and algal bloom comic-works by Chloe Williams
It tells our collective story as a community affected by ecological grief and spotlights the campaigns addressing the harmful algal bloom Karenia mikimotoi and its devastating impact on South Australia’s coastline and community.
Through our QR code mural wall be empowered to join a local grassroots environmental initiative or community action group working to protect and care for our waterways and coastline.

TOXIC SURF – Choir and Songwriting Workshop
Local singer/songwriter Jamie Lena from Songlark Choir will be delivering a series of songwriting workshops as a means to express climate grief, in particular that in relation to the current harmful algal bloom wreaking havoc on our local marine life.
