TRAIN THE TRAINER: Shakespeare & Violence Prevention
Event description
Learn the CSF (Colorado Shakespeare Festival) Method of approaching Shakespeare through a violence prevention lens, taught by Dr. Amanda Giguere of the Colorado Shakespeare Festival. This session is aimed at educators (or aspiring educators) and applied theatre practitioners. Experience teaching Shakespeare is not required. Participants will learn about key components of the CSF method, and will have the opportunity to practice CSF’s roleplaying activities.
This training is developed by the Colorado Shakespeare Festival and the Center for the Study and the Prevention of Violence.
This workshop is a special presentation by the Melbourne Public Humanities Initiative, University of Melbourne.
Workshop facilitator:
Amanda Giguere (she/her) is the Director of Outreach for the Colorado Shakespeare Festival, where she oversees all education and outreach programming. She is the author of Shakespeare & Violence Prevention: A Practical Handbook for Educators (University Press of Colorado, 2025). She also teaches in the Applied Shakespeare program at the University of Colorado Boulder.
She holds an MA and PhD in Theatre from CU Boulder. Learn more about her work at www.amandagiguere.com.
