The Role of Elders in Transforming Our Social Systems

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

The whole concept of transforming social systems can leave us feeling overwhelmed and small.

When we look at our social systems they can feel too big, too complex and sometimes too dangerous to even look at, let alone to transform. This is because our systems hold past trauma, old entaglements and hidden patterns. We ourselves are not separate from them, which means working with them can be very tricky.

This can then lead us to either avoid working deeply with them or alternatively working with them 'blind' (unconsciously), which can mean we become entangled or triggered by them.

The dilemma we face as a society is that there's an urgent need to transform. If we don't, the future generations will inherit these, our broken systems.

It's our role as Elders to find the courage to play our part in envisioning new and healthy social systems, so our younger people are not burdened by the legacy of the previous generations.

In this one hour workshop we will be exploring:

  • The rise and fall of Empires, leaders and social systems
  • Our role as Elders in transforming systems
  • A systemic approach to social issues

The structure of the session involves a small teaching and then a facilitated group discussion.

Participants will be expected to have their cameras on and be fully present in the workshop; however, there's no expectation to speak.

Spaces are limited to 25. Please only book on the event if you are planning to attend.

The event will be recorded and shared with the whole community.
