Transition Town Vincent Movie Night - Life in a 'Degrowth' Economy - envisioning a prosperous descent

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

What would daily life would be like in a ‘degrowth’ economy? 📉🌏

That is, in an economy seeking planned contraction of energy and resource demands in order to achieve sustainability, equity, and social wellbeing.

On this special edition Transition Town movie night, we will share a 40 minute presentation by Dr Samuel Alexander, co-director of the Simplicity Institute, exploring these issues by seeking to envision what such a ‘prosperous descent’ might look like.

This is Part IV of the Ecological Civilization series, which grapples with the problems of consumerism and the growth economy; envisions alternative, post-carbon ways of life; and considers what action can be taken, both personally and politically, to help build an ecological civilization.

This is what Transition Towns are all about and we are very excited to share this presentation with you, followed by a facilitated discussion of what is already happening in our communities and what more we can do.

Join us at our monthly movie night to learn and be inspired to take action.
