Having a yarn with these two amazing women is not be missed and one that may take you out of your comfort zone or it may excite you, either way you will come away with a different perspective on these wonderful creatures and a high regard for those that protect our natural environment of which we are all naturally connected.

Dr Leanda Mason 

Dr Leanda Mason (they/them, Minang Nyungar) has research focuses that are broad and intersecting. These research interests include, but are not limited to: conservation ecology, tertiary education, and equity/diversity/inclusion frameworks. They have specialist skills surveying of trapdoor spiders, having conducted extensive research on their ecology and the challenges they face in urban environments due to their short-range endemic traits. Leanda has an extensive teaching and learning background; serving as a unit coordinator and lecturer in various Indigenous studies and environmental science courses, as well as having a Masters in Teaching. They are also an enthusiastic science communicator; frequently engaging in public talks, media interviews, and publications to advocate for conservation of non-charismatic species

Dr Cass Lynch:

Is a Koreng Wudjari Noongar woman, and is descended from the families of Ravensthorpe in the Great Southern region. She is a writer and Research Fellow, and has a PhD in Creative Writing that explores Noongar stories that reference climate change. She is a member of the Wirlomin Noongar Language and Stories group who focus on the revitalisation of culture and language connected to south coast Noongar people. She is the co-founder of Aboriginal literature project Woylie Project, which facilitates bringing Noongar stories into print and training community members to be presenters.Cass was involved in the Trapdoor Spider Relocation in the Porongorups that occurred earlier this year 

Cass will also present a On country Poetry writing Deep Listening and Noticing through writing on Saturday 15th in Hopetoun
