Trash-to-Fashion: Drag Rags & Pride Attire Open Studio

Trash-to-Fashion: Drag Rags & Pride Attire is a two-weekend open studio held in SCRAP's education space from 12-5pm on BOTH Sunday, July 2nd AND Sunday, July 9th! Amateurs and veterans of the Portland drag world are invited to come together in this collaborative, creative space and make wearable art and accessories for Pride week, swap ideas, make professional connections, make friends, and hang out with a smorgasbord of SCRAP's materials at their disposal. (Also, bring along your own works-in-progress!) We've collected a bunch of great fabrics, lots of interesting embellishments, and our 6 studio sewing machines will be available for use. Come make full garments, decorative epaulets, gaudy shoulder pads, pronoun pins, or perhaps a sash that announces yourself to be "World's Most Famous Drag Performer." We won't fact check! Tickets are $15 each day, with additional donations encouraged to support our pride month fundraiser.

Drag Me To SCRAP! A Creative Reuse Fashion & Drag Show Fundraiser is the grand finale follow-up to our open studio weekends, and it's going down on Saturday, July 29th from 6-9pm in downtown Portland. Join us at Director Park and applaud Trash-to-Fashion participants as they show off their work in a fashion show, see a fantastic drag show hosted by Portland legendary drag queen Sue From Corporate (featuring more than one of your favorite SCRAP employees 👀), win fun prizes through a raffle and silent art auction, and support queer art! 💄 Let's have a gay old time! Drag show tickets are $10 via presale and $12 at the door (with raffle tickets sold at the door).

All funds raised will help to support SCRAP's mission to encourage sustainability and make creativity accessible for our entire community. If you would like to support in other ways leading up to the events, we encourage artists to get in touch with us ASAP (email katelyn.k@scrapcreativereuse.org) about donating art to our silent art auction, and we encourage local businesses to donate gift cards or certificates for the raffle!
