TTV Movie Night - Making a Mini-Forest

An inspiring documentary and guest speaker in the lead up to our own Black Cockatoo pocket forest planting 🌳🌲

In different places, at different times, different people work towards the same goal - planting mini-forests in European cities. These groups use the Miyawaki Method, a tree-planting technique that focuses on regionally specific native tree species, uses organic soil amendments, dense planting, using a relatively small area of land, and requires no maintenance after a few years. Narrated by Hannah Lewis, author of "Mini-Forest Revolution," stories form a bigger picture of planting mini-forests to counter climate change, urban heat and restore biodiversity.

Following the movie hear from Dr Grey Coupland who leads the internationally recognised Miyawaki Forest Outreach Program at Murdoch University, and is assisting with our Black Cockatoo Forest project. Anne Courtney, local resident and TTV committee member will also share her experiences on the community consultation process for the transformation of Stuart Street Reserve in North Perth.

There will also be a guided tour of our nearby Black Cockatoo pocket forest prior to the movie at 5.30pm

Event Details

The film starts at 6.30pm. Please arrive by 6.15pm if possible.

There will be a site tour of our existing Black Cockatoo pocket forest prior to the movie and starting at 5.30pm.

Alcohol is available for purchase at the bar. There will be free bakery items thanks to Dejaxo Bakery. You can also BYO snacks.

Children are welcome to attend if accompanied by a parent or guardian.

No need to print your ticket.
