Hello! For those who haven’t met me, my name is David Leo, Tween Camp director for 2024. I am happy to inform you that we have received and processed your application form for Tween Camp. I apologise for the late letter. The theme for 2024 is “AI All In for Jesus” an important theme to consider that faith is not AI generated but generated by Jesus who first loved us. So the theme is about Jesus, you and IRL (In Real Life)! We are so glad that you’ve chosen to be part of this experience. We want our campers to feel safe as we challenge them physically, mentally, and spiritually so we have some great staff that are on our team this year ready to meet you. If you are a returning camper, you may see some familiar faces and if you are a first timer, you will have fun making new friends. On the Thursday night, we are having an “AI” themed banquet night also, so if you’re able, come dressed up in a costume that has something to do with AI (a tall order). So here are some sugestions: dress up as a microchip, or computer screen, an appropriate emoji, a retro video game character..... you get the idea. I am particularly excited about our activities and the talks that our visiting guest from NSW will share with us.

Camp will start at 5pm on Tuesday October 1 and conclude on Sunday morning, October 6.

Transport

If you are bringing your kids to camp, please be there before 5pm on Tuesday. They will be available for pick up at 10am Sunday morning. The address is Spring Beach Youth Camp, 138 Happy Valley Rd. Spring Beach.

If you have indicated on your application form that you will be using the bus service to get to camp, please take note of the times and locations outlined below and make sure that you are clear about when and where you will need to drop your child. Listed below are the times you need to arrive at the location. PLEASE DON’T BE LATE!!! The bus has a schedule to meet, and other parents are

waiting. We will do our best to be on time, but if the bus is late for some reason, please be patient.

The North West bus pick up this year will start at Northwest Christian School, then at Devonport SDA church, with a Northern pickup at Launceston SDA Church. W The Southern bus will pick up and drop off at Glenorchy SDA Church.

BUS 1 - NORTH & NORTH WEST - TUESDAY Oct 1st

11:15am departing North West Christian School (18 Ling St. Penguin)

*This bus will return on Sunday 8th October at about 4 to 4:30pm

12 pm departing Devonport SDA Church (156 Steele St. Devonport)

*This bus will return on Sunday 8th October at about 3:30 to 4pm

2 pm Launceston SDA Church (125 Talbot Road, Launceston)

*This bus will return on Sunday 8th October at about 1:30pm

BUS 2 – SOUTH – TUESDAY Oct 1st

2:30pm Glenorchy SDA Church (518 Main Rd, Montrose, Hobart)

*This bus will return on Sunday 8th October at about 12pm.

What to Bring:

• Bible & Pen

• 4-5 changes of clothes (include both summer & winter)

• Raggy or disposable clothes and old shoes for getting wet, muddy, or dirty in our crazy night games.

• Enclosed shoes for walking

• Bedding (sleeping bag, pillow and fitted sheet a must)

• Toiletries (toothbrush, soap, washer, shampoo, etc)

• Thongs for showering

• Bathing Suit

• Beach & bath towels

• Sunscreen & hat

• Wetsuit – if you have one

• Camera – at own risk

Please note that mobile phones and other electronic equipment may be used for the bus trip to camp however, these items MUST be handed into the office on arrival, and you will get them back on Sunday when you head home. There will be an hour of free time in the afternoons when mobile phones can be used. Calling home during free time is optional, so, if you would like your child to call you frequently, please tell them!

Also, energy drinks will not be permitted at camp and will be confiscated if brought.

We do not intend on being late on the return trip, however, in case there is an unexpected delay with the buses, please ensure you are monitoring the contact number you placed on your child’s camp application on Sunday October 6th.
