Urban Sketchers Talks
Event description
Join us for a series of short talks that celebrate Urban Sketching — a global movement dedicated to drawing on location and capturing the character of places in real time. Whether you're an experienced sketcher, a creative curious about drawing, or someone interested in how art connects with urban life, this session offers inspiration and insight.
Speakers:
Peter Richards – Architect, urban designer, and administrator of Urban Sketchers Brisbane, on Why Urban Sketching: Observing the world and building community.
Mark Elms – Founder of Urban Sketchers Gold Coast, sharing the story behind the group’s remarkable growth to over 1,500 members in just a few years.
Natalia Norton – Architect and dedicated sketcher, reflecting on how she transforms everyday scenes — from Gold Coast beaches to the landscapes of rural Japan — into vibrant travel diaries.
Discover how sketching becomes a lens for seeing more, connecting more deeply with place, and building creative community.
Find the Urban Sketchers in the Central Plaza, Health & Knowledge Precinct, 10am–12pm. Observe or bring your sketchbook and join in!
