Description
Using Digital Technologies to enhance design in Food Technologies
This is a professional learning workshop designed to inspire TAS teachers to integrate contemporary digital tools into Food Technologies teaching and learning. Through a curated showcase of a food molding project, participants will explore how digital technologies can enhance design thinking, product development, creative problem-solving and the communication of design ideas.
The workshop introduces practical examples of digital sketching, visualisation software, CAD modelling and digital fabrication including, 3D printing, laser cutting, vacuum forming, and artificial intelligence, demonstrating how these tools can support ideation, concept refinement, prototyping, packaging design, silicone mould creation and evaluation.
Presenters will share physical samples, digital models and classroom project examples, helping teachers consider how digital technologies can be used in accessible, purposeful and syllabus-aligned ways.
The workshop concludes with discussion of classroom implementation, design challenges, resource considerations and opportunities for helping students generate, test and communicate innovative food design solutions using contemporary digital tools.
