Visiting Architects and Experts Workshop | Design Reviews with OFFICE

The School of Architecture and Built Environment at the University of Newcastle is delighted to be hosting OFFICE through our Visiting Architects and Experts workshop series. These workshops are a space for deep dives into topics and discourse between students, practitioners, and the broader community to come together and ‘open up’ our shared places, practices and projects. This public programming is part of our Visiting Architects and Experts project, that draws in a diversity of voices and perspectives to discuss, workshop and critique the built environment.

Workshop | Design Reviews with OFFICE

Design reviews with OFFICE offer an opportunity to receive constructive feedback on current projects from Simon (architect) and Steve (landscape architect). Structured as informal design sessions, participants are encouraged to bring their work at any stage and in any format for an open discussion among peers.

Students are invited from all years and all levels to engage with OFFICE in the Architecture Design Studio for this open review session.

Bio| OFFICE

OFFICE is a Melbourne-based, not-for-profit multidisciplinary design and research practice operating at the intersection of built form, research, discourse, and education. As Australia’s only charitable architectural practice, their operations and outputs are bound by a constitution dedicated strictly to the public good.

Their most recent work includes the delivery of the culturally and climate-appropriate remote housing with Wilya Janta, advocating for the retention of public housing in Victoria and NSW, the release of the publication Aqua Nullius, and the operation of 3553—a public event space dedicated to exploring ideas that shape the built environment.
