VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION - 48th Australian Kendo Championships 2026 - Gold Coast

The Australian Kendo Renmei and the Queensland Kendo Renmei are excited to bring you the 48th Australian Kendo Championships, Seminar and Dan Grading Examination on the Gold Coast in 2026. 

Date: Fri 3rd to Tue 7th April 2026.

Location: Tallebudgera Sports Centre 1525 Gold Coast Hwy, Palm Beach QLD 4221

VOLUNTEERING

The QKR are seeking up to 40 volunteers to successfully deliver this event. We are seeking volunteers for all day Saturday and all day Sunday, however volunteers only available part-time are also welcome. Friday volunteers are also required.

Volunteer roles:

You will be trained and allocated for roles within your skills and experiance. Juniors are welcome as well as thouse without kendo experiance.

• Registration desk

• Court Assistants (Kakari-in) - time keepers, scorers, announcers, ribbon bearers, scoreboard keepers.

• General helpers

We would like all vounteers to wear white business shirt, dark pants and black socks.

You will receive a free event shirt, free AKC tenugui and free* 1 day seminar (facilitated by two 8 dan) ticket!

• free seminar tickets only available for those that volunteer two full days.

N.B. - Shinpan duties are separate and will be coordinated by the Kendo Board.

Accommodation:  

The QKR will offer FREE onsite accommodation and meals to volunteers who volunteer for the weekend. 

• Onsite accommodation will be with catering. 

• These are generally 6-person cabins with bunk beds, bathroom, toilet (linen/towels included).

• Unless you nominate other attendees for sharing your cabins, you will be placed with your club members / state.

• Cabins will be allocated to guests from the same gender group (special requests will be considered for couples/families).

• Meals include breakfast, lunch and dinner, morning tea, afternoon tea and supper (packed or served in the dining hall). *Sat night dinner not included. (The venue's commercial kitchen is fully equipped with the necessary resources and ingredients to cater for a wide range of allergies and dietary restrictions, with strict processes in place to prevent cross-contamination. For each meal service, their Head Chef personally serves guests with special dietary requirements to ensure they receive the correct meal.)

• They have 18 wheelchair accessible rooms that are adapted for persons with accessibility needs.
