W8 Creativity & Human Frequencies
Description
Week 8 Human Frequencies with Lissa Williams
Last week Carolina traced the ecology of the body and why creative practice settles a nervous system that modern life keeps on edge. This week we take that understanding out of the realm of ideas and into direct experience, through the oldest and most personal instrument there is: the human voice.
Lissa Williams of Human Vibrations works at the meeting point of voice, sound, and nervous system regulation. This evening she guides a practice that weaves together gentle guided relaxation, breathwork, vocal activation, sound and group singing, an exploration of how voice and vibration shape what happens in the body and the mind. Drawing on clinical hypnotherapy, psychotherapy, nervous system science, and the old human tradition of singing together, Lissa offers a grounded, practical way to feel the regulating power of sound and breath from the inside.
There is a reason every culture that has ever existed has sung. The voice is not only how we speak to one another. It is a way of tending to our own state, of moving something through the body that has no other way out. When we make sound together, something settles that words alone cannot reach. The breath deepens. The system that stress winds tight begins to loosen. And in a room full of voices, something else happens too, the particular ease of being carried by a sound larger than any one of us can make alone.
You do not need to be a singer, or a speaker, or to think of yourself as musical in any way. Whether you have a trained voice or have spent your whole life certain you cannot sing, this is a space to explore, to practice, and to feel what your own voice is capable of. For some this arrives as deep calm. For others, a surprising release. We do not prescribe the experience. We hold the space for it, and how far you go is up to you.
This is the term made practical. Everything we have been circling, that creativity returns us to relationship, with the body, with the moment, and with each other, becomes real here in the simplest possible way, in the sound of voices meeting in a room. Come as you are. Bring your breath and your willingness. Your voice will know what to do.
