The WA Manual Therapy Conference was created to foster knowledge and skill sharing amongst a range of health practitioners in the manual therapy field.
The conference will showcase a number of presenters who are specialists in their field and who will share not only their knowledge and experience, but also an insight in the practical application of their area of expertise.
Participants can expect a full day of highly valuable and clinically relevant content with a range of practical workshops throughout.
If you are a Physiotherapist, Osteopath, Remedial Therapist, Myotherapist, Chiropractor, Soft Tissue Therapist, Sports or Orthopedic Physician, Podiatrist, Exercise Physiologist or strength and conditioning coach, this is the event for you.

Dr Arjun Rao - The assessment and management of knee injuries in sport.
Dr Arjun Rao is a Consultant Physician in Sport and Exercise Medicine being a Fellow of the Australasian College of Sports and Exercise Physicians, the Faculty of the Royal College of Physicians of London and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and also the Faculty of the Royal College of Surgeon of Ireland. He works in private practice and is the Medical Director of Specialist Sportscare WA. He also works at the WA Institute of Sport and in particular oversees the State Sailing programme as well as being a Senior Clinical Research Fellow at the University of WA with a specific interest in chronic recalcitrant tendinopathy and OA.
Dr Rao has extensive experience managing professional sporting teams at a State, National and International level. Specifically, he has been involved with local WAFL (West Perth & Swan Districts Football Clubs), Cricket Australia, the NSL/Hyundai A-League and Football Federation Australia (FFA). He was Medical Director of Perth Glory Football Club from 1996 to 2018.
Dr Rao has also been appointed as a member of the RACGP Curriculum Working Group for Sports Medicine in Australian General Practice and was part of the Clinical Specialist Medical Group for the Polyclinic at the London Olympic Games in 2012.
He is also CMO for Football West and Chairman of the CMO’s for the FFA as well as part of the Elite Regional Medical Advisory and Doping Control Panel for FIFA.
Dr Rao offers over 25 years of clinical experience with a broad independent global perspective in SEM.
Dr Sandra Mejak
Dr Sandra Mejak is a Sport and Exercise Medicine Physician, specializing in the field since 2005. Her mission is to deliver elite care for all her patients. She believes that health is the key to a fulfilled life, and that exercise is a key pillar of health. She aims to empower everyone she treats to achieve their desired performance, fitness and health, now and into the future.

- Sports Medicine Australia State Board Member or State Councillor since 2008.
- Dr Mejak has worked with teams in international and national competitions in basketball, hockey, shooting, soccer, volleyball and netball. She has performed official medical screening for the AFL draft.
Her personal sporting achievement peaked representing Canberra in the National Volleyball League. Current sports include cross-country skiing, running and yoga.
Dr Toby Hall - Assessment and management of neural pain disorders
Toby Hall is a Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist (Fellow of the Australian College of Physiotherapists), graduating in the UK in 1985, followed by an MSc in 1996 and PhD in 2010. He holds the position of Adjunct Associate Professor at Curtin University. Toby has presented at many conferences, published more than 20 book chapters and published more than 120 peer-reviewed articles relating to manual therapy: cervicogenic headache, neural tissue disorders and other topics. He has co-authored 3 books “Mobilisation with Movement, The Art and the Science” & The Mulligan Concept of Manual Therapy: Textbook of Techniques” in 1st & 2nd Edn. He regularly reviews for many journals, is on the international advisory panel of the Journal Musculoskeletal Science & Practice, and is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Manual and Manipulative Therapy. Toby is a director of Manual Concepts, for which he teaches a range of manual therapy courses around the world.
Ms. Georgie Adams - Assessment and Treatment of Internal and External Pelvic and Abdominal Pain
Georgie graduated in 2013 from the university of Notre Dame Fremantle. She initially worked in musculoskeletal private practice in Perth where she developed a special interest in Women’s & Men’s Pelvic Health, and has been working in this area for 5 years. She has spent the last 4 years working in a busy clinic in London, and has recently returned to Perth. Georgie is currently completing her Masters in Continence and Pelvic Health at Curtin University.
Georgie specialises in pelvic pain, management of bladder and bowel dysfunction in both men and women, as well as the treatment of pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic pain, female sexual dysfunction and antenatal and postnatal disorders.
Dr Steve Lee - Low Back Pain: Assessment and Treatment, from Acute Pain to Sport Performance
Dr Steve has both a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and a Master's degree in Chiropractic. He is also currently embarking on a PhD in golf injuries.
Steve’s diverse background in sport science and chiropractic provides patients with a unique approach to care. He strives to deliver fast and effective results for his patients by combining techniques from several modalities including chiropractic, physiotherapy, and exercise physiology.
Steve has also travelled as the team chiropractor in the Australian Volleyball League and was the sports chiropractor for the Wimp 2 Warrior MMA TV Series. He now focuses on private practice in his sports chiropractic clinic in Perth where he works with some of WA’s top athletes ranging from golf to Crossfit.
Mr Bodine Ledden - Lateral hip pain: A manual therapist approach
Bodine is the Assistant director for Advanced Clinical Education. He completed his training at the Canberra Institute of Technology graduating as a Soft Tissue Therapist where he worked for many years before moving to Perth to pursue his passion for teaching.
Bodine has spent 10 years as a private practice clinician. Over the past 4 years he has shifted his workload primarily into the educational space where he has been the course coordinator at the Australasian College of Massage and Myotherapy and has been responsible for the development and implementation of the course curriculum. Bodine also provides post graduate professional development training for health professionals nationally. Bodine is currently completing his Graduate Certificate in Educational Neuroscience with Central Queensland University.
Bodine has developed a special interest in the management of hip related pain. Bodine combines his strength and conditioning background with an evidence informed approach to physical assessment, manual therapy treatment and exercise intervention.
