ORPHEUS QUINTET

A dynamic young wind ensemble based in Sydney, the Orpheus Quintet was formed at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. The group is quickly building a reputation for vibrant performances, musical precision, and an infectious passion for collaboration. The quintet participated in the Pathways Program at the Australian Festival of Chamber Music (AFCM) in 2025 and is the Fellowship Ensemble for AFCM2026. They were selected to take part in a masterclass with the LA Philharmonic Wind Quintet during the LA Philharmonic's Australian tour, and the quintet has had the privilege of being mentored by Shefali Pryor and Andrew Barnes.

Spanning continents and generations, this Emerging Artist Series programme weaves together music by Valerie Coleman, György Ligeti, Ross Edwards, Carl Nielsen, Karl Pilss, and Astor Piazzolla. Rhythmic vitality gives way to moments of stillness, wit meets warmth, and tradition is reframed through contemporary voices. United by colour, character, and conversation, this programme highlights the quintet as a laboratory for ensemble precision, stylistic fluency, and expressive depth.

The Emerging Artist Concert Series is a collaboration between Wollongong Art Gallery and Inspire Music Australia. It presents dedicated, passionate musicians under 26 in concerts that offer audiences the opportunity to experience our next generation of musicians in the ambience of one of Australia’s leading regional art galleries. Join us for a morning of music, art and friendship - arrive early for a cup of tea and biscuits.

The EACS is a free event to ensure accessibility for all. Donations can be made and contribute directly to the artist's fees.

Sharing the Joy of Music in the Community

InspireMusicAust is a not-for-profit that nurtures emerging classical, jazz, and world musicians by creating performance opportunities in the community. InspireMusicAust is committed to increasing accessibility to classical, jazz and world music within the community. Our concerts are often scheduled at a time of day, making them available for those who find concerts at night difficult. We partner with venues to provide accessible programs to all within the community, regardless of their economic situation. To facilitate this, many of our concerts are entry by donation. However, we strongly encourage those who can donate to do so generously to help support our commitment to paying performers following the Musicians Union of Australia and awards.

Currently, our major program is the EMERGING CONCERT ARTISTS SERIES, which features outstanding young performers under 26. The musicians are given the freedom to curate, present, and perform a program in multiple venues, which helps create a performance progression path for emerging artists. In some concerts, the emerging artists work with established performers; in others, they pair up together. Other concerts we run include the annual MUSIC FOR MEDICINE concert, which features emerging artists in performance with a leading Australian artist at Wollongong Town Hal, with all profits going to a charity committed to the health and well-being of those in need. We also run CONCERTS ACROSS THE LAWN: A Musical Experience in Nature. As young artists progress, we offer to help them set up concerts involving a paid entry in different locations.
