Join us at Wallsend Library to explore some of the most incredible and unique treasures from the Wallsend Op Shop Trail (map)

Participate in one of our activities and receive a $5 voucher to spend on the day at one of the five op shops on the Wallsend Op Shop Trail (T&Cs apply).

Free activities (no booking required):

Op Shopped Out competition
- Wear your favourite op shop outfit on the day to enter the competition. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram @wallsendopshoptrail to discover the competition categories. Guest judges from The Conscious Exchange, French for Tuesday, and Trash Pixies Collective. There are a bunch of prizes up for grabs, including an exclusive op shop styling session with local stylist and op shop legend!

Have a cuppa with a volunteer
- Sit down and have a cuppa and a chat with some of our amazing volunteers, without whom our op shop ecosystem would not be possible. Hear about why they love what they do, bust some myths about volunteering, and find out how you can become part of the volunteering community!

Bookings required:

Rag Rug Workshop with Upcycle Newcastle (FULLY BOOKED)
- Starting at 10am sharp with limited spots available
- $5 for 2 hour workshop (+bf)

Wallsend Op Shop Trail walking tour (FULLY BOOKED)
- Mardi Lee from French for Tuesday will be taking you on walking tour of the Wallsend Op Shop Trail.
- Leaving from Wallsend Library at 11:30am, you will walk down to Nelson Street and be guided through the 5 Op Shops of Wallsend, gaining personalised tips, and hearing some of the unique experiences of our op shop volunteers.

The Op Shop Emporium is part of the Wallsend Op Shop Trail project, run by Purple Card Project and supported by the City of Newcastle and Wallsend Town Business Association. This is another event delivered under your Special Business Rate Program.

We are a charitable social enterprise whose mission is to help empower individuals and communities to have a positive environmental impact through small scale environmental action.

We work with individuals, schools, organisations, and governments on a variety of sustainable initiatives, so that communities can reclaim their power, reduce the environmental overwhelm, and make small changes that, when combined, make a big impact!

To help support our mission, we operate a vibrant not-for-profit circular economy retail and community space at 437 Hunter Street Newcastle.

This space supports social enterprises, local businesses, community organisations, and makers with a shared ethos to create a sustainable future by championing the principles of the circular economy through resource recovery, repair and reuse.
