Wasabi 10: Voices Across Borders

Join us as we celebrate a remarkable milestone—10 years of Wasabi Choir! From its beginnings in 2015 as a way to connect younger generations of Japanese New Zealanders with their cultural roots, Wasabi has blossomed into a vibrant multicultural choir that brings together voices from all walks of life.

This special anniversary concert will showcase a rich tapestry of songs in Japanese, English, and Māori, blending pop, folk, and traditional melodies. Adding to the celebration, our Turn up the Music kids choir (ages 8–13) will take the stage, sharing their joy and fresh energy through song.

Led by the joyful energy of Meg Hirata, Wasabi is a celebration of harmony, community, and the power of music to cross borders and bring people together. Come and be part of an uplifting evening that honours the past, celebrates the present, and looks forward to the voices of tomorrow.
