Price $15 AUD + BF Get tickets

Event description

Join Ngunawal elder, Tyronne Bell, for an introduction to Ngunawal language - the language of the traditional inhabitants of the ACT and surrounds. In this 90 minute, inter-active workshop you will learn: a brief history of the Ngunawal language; and an introduction to Ngunawal language including how (and when) to present an Acknowledgement of Country in Ngunawal language. Light refreshments will be provided.

Tyronne Bell is a Ngunawal descendant who grew up in Yass, learning traditional culture from his father Don Bell (senior). Tyronne is a strong advocate for the recognition of Aboriginal culture and language, in particular the culture and language of the Ngunawal people. In 2022, Tyronne performed a cleansing ceremony for the Watson Micro-forest site.

This event is made possible with the support of the ACT Government's Cultural Grants Program. Proceeds will contribute to ongoing care and maintenance of the Watson Microforest (in Wade Street Park, Watson).
