Wednesday Talks // Simon Williams
Description
Join us for a casual Wednesday Talk with Simon Williams.
Simon Williams is a South Australian jewellery and object maker based at Zu Design, creating exhibition and commissioned pieces across a variety of precious and non-precious media.
Since graduating with Honours with a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Jewellery) in 2005, Simon’s practice has combined traditional jewellery and metalsmithing techniques with contemporary processes, including silicone mould-making and resin casting, as well as the use of recycled materials. He interprets subjects such as plate tectonics, rugged Australian and foreign landscapes, and geological, mineral and celestial forms through a combination of precious metals, gemstones, and cast resin crystalline forms.
Simon’s work is stocked in galleries nationally. He has taught electives at the University of South Australia and collaborated with designers and scientists. In 2024, he exhibited at the World Health Organization in Manila as part of the A Journey Through Health Futures exhibition.
