Event description
This is Week 2, in the WEEKDAY 12 Week: Couch to Mt Tennant Hiking / Get Fit Program. See program rules below.
WEEK 2: COUCH TO MT TENNENT - ARANDA SNOW GUMS - 3.8 KLMS - EASY
TUESDAY 16 JULY - 09:30 AM - 11:30 AM
WHERE TO MEET:
**We will meet in the GDE Memorial Carpark. The Carpark Coordinates are: -35.278994231993025, 149.08707465896975"
You can access the carpark off the Glenlock Interchange heading east or via the Glenlock Interchange that turns into Caswell Drive, heading North.
ABOUT THE WALK:
Starting at the GDE carpark, we'll head North West into the Aranda Snowgums, for a wander around that area on a mix of fire and single track, heading up to the top of the hill in the Aranda bushland, and then down on a rough series of tracks on the other side of the hill. The walk is around 3.8 - 4klms, with approx 90 metres of ascent. Some of the walk may be through unformed path, and the paths down the east side of the hill can be a bit rough (ie fun). Wear shoes with good grip, and consider gaitors as optional.
Here is the Alltrails info about this walk:
https://www.alltrails.com/expl...
FACILITIES: No toilets at Aranda Snowgum area
WHAT TO BRING: Water / Rain jacket / Hat / Sunscreen / WARM CLOTHES
After the walk, there will be an optional social coffee at Two before Ten Cafe - 68 Bandjalong Crescent, Aranda.
BORING BUT IMPORTANT BITS:
In the event of predicted thunderstorms, the walk may not proceed. Please always check your email before the start of the activity, in the event we need to cancel. We will notify cancellations through Humanatix (sometimes people accidentally dismiss those emails as spam).

ABOUT THE COUCH TO MT TENNENT PROGRAM:
>Couch to Mt Tennent is like Couch to 5klms, but finishing on Mt Tennent! It's a walking/hiking program
> You can join in at any time - you don't need to attend all 12 weeks - join us much or as little as you like
>
We run events when it suits volunteers - we will try and have
days/times consistent for the program, but volunteers have a life
outside of this community. That means our weeks aren't always
consecutive. We do what we can :)
> There is a small ticket cost,
to encourage people to turn up, and to help cover Walk Leader's petrol
and Garmin InReach costs. It shouldn't cost volunteers to help others.
> Walks are a mix of Urban walks and Remote
> We encourage everyone to try and do a bit of 'homework', and do at least two days of their own walks
> Each week, we try a walk that is a bit harder and/or a bit longer
> We finish Week 12 at the top of Mt Tennent (aka Mt Bastard) with some champagne (or more like warm Gatorade)
> The Walk Leader is Wilderness First-Aid qualified, and carries emergency communication on remote walks
> We keep our group sizes small, because it's more personable and safer
> RSVP's will be listed up, two weeks in advance
> There are two free tickets available each week for students/pensioners/those on low incomes. If additional people cannot afford a ticket, please get in touch with the organiser, and request another
