TUES 30 JULY - 09:30 AM - 11:30 AM

WHERE TO MEET:
**We will meet at the Mulligans Flat Road Carpark - it's the same capark to the Little Mulligan Flats area / Northern Border Trail Head / Golden Sun moth entrance. The Carpark Coordinates are: -35.154023846597305, 149.1562638733641

WHAT TO EXPECT

We'll head up a fairly steep 120 metre climb, check the 180 degree views out over Northern Canberra, and then do an easy downhill loop back to the carpark. The distance is around 4.8 klms, with around 199 metres ascent in total.

Here's a review about this walk by Australian Hiker:

This walks travels past the Golden Sun Moth Information Area. Northern or Little Mulligans, is one of the few historical, indigenous stone and tool quarries in the ACT region. Many stone tools have been found and documented in this location.

BORING BUT IMPORTANT BITS:

In the event of predicted thunderstorms, the walk may not proceed. Please always check your email before the start of the activity, in the event we need to cancel. We will notify cancellations through Humanatix (sometimes people accidentally dismiss those emails as spam).

As we are volunteer social group, we don't have insurance, so please ensure you have your own Ambulance coverage. Please also read our liability waiver, here:

ABOUT THE ACTIVITY LEAD:

Kelli has been leading walks for Women's Adventure ACT since 2017. She loves helping women get outdoors, meet new friends and connect with nature. She is Wilderness First-Aid Qualified.

ABOUT THE COUCH TO MT TENNENT PROGRAM:

>Couch to Mt Tennent is like Couch to 5klms, but finishing on Mt Tennent! It's a walking/hiking program
> You can join in at any time - you don't need to attend all 12 weeks - join in as much or as little as you like
> We run events when it suits volunteers - we will try and have days/times consistent for the program, but volunteers have a life outside of this community. That means our weeks aren't always consecutive. We do what we can :)
> There is a small ticket cost to encourage people to turn up, and to help cover Walk Leader's petrol and Garmin InReach costs. It shouldn't cost volunteers to help others.
> Walks are a mix of Urban walks and Remote
> We encourage everyone to try and do a bit of 'homework' and do at least two days of their own walks
> Each week, we try a walk that is a bit harder and/or a bit longer
> We finish Week 12 at the top of Mt Tennent (aka Mt Bastard) with some champagne (or more like warm Gatorade)
> The Walk Leader is Wilderness First-Aid qualified, and carries emergency communication on remote walks
> We keep our group sizes small, because it's more personable and safer
> RSVP's will be listed up, two weeks in advance

> There are two free tickets available each week for students/pensioners/those on low incomes. If additional people cannot afford a ticket, please get in touch with the organiser, and request another.
