Event description

The Brisbane History Group’s next seminar focuses on immigration. The presentations will look at initiatives for bringing German immigrants to Queensland, the Lebanese presence in Brisbane, the Deshon Street Hebrew community, the Hellenes of Asia Minor, and the story of one refugee who almost accidentally made it to Australia.

Our speakers are Anne Monsour, Eric Kopittke, Bico Athanassas, Janet Spillman, Robert Allen and Paul Sayer

Before that part of the afternoon, however, there will be a bit of formal BHG business to deal with, the upgrading of the 'BHG Rules'. There is a need to align them with the Office of Fair Trading's amended Model Rules (Grievance Procedure), and to reflect cashless, and soon to be chequeless banking. The Notice of Motion and an explanatory memorandum have been forwarded to financial members under separate cover. Should take less than 5 minutes.

Registration and bookshop from 12.30pm, Welcome at 1pm, cup of tea and a biscuit around 2.30pm.

We hope you will join us for what promises to be an interesting and informative afternoon. Any queries contact brisbanehistoryevents@gmail.com
