World Building Creative Workshop & Wētā Unleashed Tour
Event description
At Wētā Workshop Unleashed, students will explore three movie projects imagined by our crew and discover how we bring big screen concepts to life. With thousands of mind-blowing special effects, robots, dinosaurs, monsters, giants and more, students of every age will step right into the action to see, play and experience movie-making up close.
Students will dive into our immersive and extraordinary world of special effects, props and larger-than-life film sets!
Students will also be treated to a creative workshop:
Intro to Worldbuilding
Have you ever dreamed of a fantasy world and imagined every tiny detail of its landscape, colour, texture and shape? Then step into the enchanting world of creativity with our hands-on workshop, designed to spark the imaginations of both beginner and budding artist.
At our 80-minute workshop, you’ll be guided by our crew who will teach you the basic skills of the trade. Create real miniature environments and landscapes using recycled materials, for a setting in a fantasy movie scene and imagine what it’s like to be a practical effects artist.
Creating a diorama that feels like a real environment with believable elements, isn't as hard as you think. You need to be creative, yes, but our Unleashed crew will help you find your inner artist and teach you the skills you need to create your imaginary world.
First, you’ll be guided through a Wētā Workshop brief based on our original fantasy movie, the Age of the Ever-Clan, featured in our Tour. Next, it’s time to examine the movie scene to understand the miniature required and then dive right into the techniques needed to bring that scene to life, including sculpting, flocking and painting.
Then finally, you’ll receive a Certificate of Creativity upon completion of the workshop.
Everything you need to create your fantasy world a truly believable environment will be provided. Our creative workshops cater to small groups to allow for one-on-one learning with our crew.
No creative experience is necessary.
