Event description

Line | Lumen | Lake

A creative morning of walking, photographing, writing, calligraphy and making at Bibra Lake (Walliabup)

Date: Saturday, 22 November 2025
Time: 8:00 am – 12:30 pm
Location: The Wetlands Centre Cockburn,
184 Hope Road, Bibra Lake WA 6163

Begin at the water’s edge and follow light into language... lens to line to layered page.

About the event

Line | Lumen | Lake blends a guided photography walk, a bite-sized poetry workshop, and a hands-on calligraphy & collage session. You’ll notice textures of sedges and paperbark, translate them into images and lines, then layer words on the page, leaving with finished pieces you’ve made by hand.

Set within the Beeliar Regional Park wetlands around Bibra Lake. Long known by the Noongar name Walliabup, this program invites careful seeing, slow craft, and a deep sense of place.

A tasty breakfast will be served during the break, (inclded in your ticket price).

Who it’s for

  • Nature lovers who want to translate what they see into art and words

  • Emerging writers, artists and photographers seeking a broader exploration of their artistic practice

  • Teachers, community facilitators, carers, and creatives exploring place-based making

  • All levels welcome; no prior experience required

Art helps communities connect with Country and care for local ecologies. In this wetlands symposium event, participants build an embodied memory of place that encourages ongoing connection and stewardship to lakes of the Beeliar Wetlands.
