Drawing on a lifetime of experience working at the intersection of business and policy, he brings a practical and refreshingly straightforward approach to a topic that is rarely taught, but highly valuable.

Through insights drawn from his work and his book The Naked Lobbyist, Matthew will share simple, real-world strategies to help business owners better navigate government, build relationships, and position themselves more effectively in a complex landscape.

Matthew’s career spans senior roles at both Federal and State levels, including serving as a Ministerial Chief of Staff, as well as CEO of leading government relations consultancy Barton Deakin. He has also led a number of industry bodies and now serves as Head of Business Development at Star Scientific, based here on the Central Coast.
