This event is specially designed to be inclusive for mainstream children as well as children under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

Date: January 16th 2024

Time: 09:00am - 1:00pm

Location: Sydney Zoo - transport from home location included (Penrith LGA only)

Event Highlights:

- Guided Zoo Tour: Children will have the opportunity to explore the Sydney Zoo and discover various animal species from around the world. Knowledgeable guides will be available to provide interesting facts and answer questions.

- Interactive Animal Encounters: Throughout the day, children will have the chance to get up close and personal with some of the zoo's friendliest animals. They can touch, feed, and learn about these amazing creatures in a safe and controlled environment.

- Activity-Based Mentoring: This event incorporates activity-based and goal driven mentoring, which is particularly beneficial for at risk youths and youths facing challenges as well as children with disabilities.

Here's how it can support them:

  - Increased Engagement: Activity-based mentoring provides a hands-on and interactive approach, which can help at risk children and children with disabilities better engage with their surroundings and peers.

  - Social Skills Development: Through group activities and interactions, children will have the opportunity to improve their social skills, such as communication, teamwork, and cooperation.

  - Confidence Building: Engaging in various activities and successfully completing tasks can boost children's confidence and self-esteem, allowing them to feel a sense of accomplishment.

  - Emotional Support: Trained mentors will be present to provide emotional support and guidance to at risk children and children with disabilities, creating a safe and nurturing environment for them to express themselves.

- Inclusive Facilities: The Sydney Zoo is equipped with accessible facilities to ensure that children of all abilities can fully participate in the activities. Wheelchair ramps, accessible restrooms, and designated rest areas will be available throughout the zoo.

- Transport: Transportation to and from the zoo will be arranged for children under the NDIS, ensuring that they can easily access the event. (Please note if not under NDIS this will be at an additional cost)
