Willow Weaving with Allison Bone
Event description
This workshop WILLOW WEAVING is targeted at beginners who need no experience. It is suitable for children but youngsters will need to be supervised.
Using fresh willow, participants will learn about:
- Selecting the right medium
- Stripping the Willow
- Keeping the Willow supple
- Forming simple shapes
- Building your creation
Participants will go home with a (small) willow wreath or other creation and the skills to continue exploring their new hobby!
Your workshop leader is Allison, a palawa woman who has been weaving since childhood. Allison is a specialist in utilising her surroundings to create, upcycle and innovate whilst keeping her creations in sync with nature.
All materials will be provided but if you'd like to bring some greenery or flowers to decorate your wreath you are most welcome!
We welcome all ages to our workshops as long as young people are supervised.
The Geeveston Art Show's Artist Development Programme is proudly sponsored by Bendigo's Community Bank Huon Valley and is run to provide local artists and aspiring artists the chance to explore their passion. We encourage you to head to Community Bank Huonville's Socials and give them a like, for funding this programme! Please note that locals (Huon Valley) will be given priority for tickets.
