Event description

Women have been integral to the development of Port Adelaide’s community spirit. Our historic women can tell us stories of power, powerlessness and all the creative negotiations in between. Join us for a panel presentation about some of the Port’s everyday women, followed by a conversation about the ways women can and have powerfully impacted their communities. Everyone welcome!

The Port Adelaide Historical Society has been working to preserve and protect the history of Port Adelaide and environs area since 1972. Our collections consist of framed pictures, photographs, maps, books, artefacts, printed ephemera and maritime memorabilia dating back to the 19th century. The collections are housed at our Semaphore rooms, our Museum at Peterhead and recorded in stone in the Portonian Walk. The Portonian magazine, has been published quarterly and has become a valuable source of Port Adelaide history for historians and researchers. Our Semaphore collection, above the Semaphore library is available to the public every Friday 1:30-3:30pm Our Museum located at 95 Fletcher Road Peterhead, is open each Sunday from 2:00 pm until 4:00pm
