Work that Reconnects Winter Study–Action Circle: The Spell of the Sensuous ❄️
Event description
Winter slows us down. It helps us listen. And it invites us to reconnect with the living world that holds us. In this quarter’s Study–Action Circle, we explore David Abram’s The Spell of the Sensuous, weaving its insights through the practices of The Work That Reconnects.
Hosted by the NENA Systems Change Hub, and supported by the School of Social Impact and the Humanitarian Changemakers Network, this circle brings together people working across climate justice, ecological regeneration, social impact and systems transformation.
Together we’ll explore how perception, language and culture shape the systems we build—and how reconnecting with the more-than-human world can help us reimagine the new economy.
What’s Inside
Guided discussions linking ecology, culture and systems thinking
Reflective practices that invite deeper sensory and place-based awareness 🌿
A supportive group of changemakers navigating similar questions
Space for curiosity, insight and creative exploration
🗓 What to Expect from the Study-Action Circles
The Work That Reconnects (WTR) offers practical tools and reflective practices to help those working to transform our economic systems navigate complexity, build resilience, and sustain collective action. By combining deep reflection, experiential exercises, and group dialogue, WTR supports changemakers in facing ecological, social, and economic crises with clarity, courage, and connection—enhancing their ability to envision and co-create a more regenerative, equitable, and wellbeing-centred economy.
As we move through the seasons in 2026, we will:

🌀 Gather for a LIVE online community circle to share reflections, deepen into experiential practices, and support each other’s projects and emotional resilience
🌱 Co-create a space where personal growth and systems change are nourished together as we work to change systems and build the New Economy movement
Who this if for: People working at the intersections of ecology, culture, systems and justice—whether through research, community organising, policy, arts, education or grassroots projects.
