Event description

In 1964 Sidney Nolan designed a whimsical Lyrebird costume for the Australian ballet, currently on display at CMAG. Join Marianna Del Castillio in creating your own sculptural bird figure, exploring a variety of mixed media including fabrics eco-dyed by the artist, stitching and natural materials that reflect the colours of the Australian bush. Marianna is an Ecuadorian born Australian, and multidisciplinary contemporary artist who lives and works in Ngambri/ Ngunnawal land. When constructing her sculptures and installations, Marianna uses reclaimed materials that are saturated with meaning. She creates her allegorical narratives by appropriating and transforming symbols and objects. This intergenerational workshop is designed for people aged 12+ and no prior experience is necessary.
