Workshop | MEMORYWARE MOSAIC FIGURE | Pamela Irving
Event description
Pamela’s chosen materials have often had a past life. She calls her process Memoryware. Pamela relishes pre-loved china, dinner ware and kitsch ceramic objects. She transforms these often discarded, well-worn ceramics, into new forms. She imagines the stories that, for example, a cup has overheard whilst two friends share their tea. From these imagined conversations, her figures emerge. Sometimes they are naughty, sometimes they are nice.
In this workshop you will create your own Memoryware Figure. You will have access to some materials that Pamela provides. However, what will make your figure unique is the inclusion of your own bits and pieces. Pamela will assist you to create your own figure from your accumulated and supplied mixed media materials. Your figure will tell something of your own life-story or be an imaginary figure or tell a story of a loved one, living or departed. Or, perhaps, tell the tale of your favourite pet!
