Write. Reflect. Connect.
Event description
A workshop on how writing can shift your mind and reshape the stories you live by.
From Tim Ferriss to Oprah, from ancient religions to modern schools, writing has always been used to make meaning. But most of us were never taught how to use it in a way that feels real. That works for us.
This workshop is a starting point. Or a returning point.
It’s a space to reflect, reframe, and reconnect—with yourself, and with the people around you.
You’ll be guided through a series of prompts that help you listen to your own voice more clearly. The voice that tells you what matters, where you’re stuck, what patterns are worth unpacking. We’ll move between writing, reflection, and conversation, using the Write. Reflect. Connect. method to build insight and awareness, without pressure, perfectionism, or overthinking.
We’ll talk about the science behind journaling, why it works, and how to make it a habit that actually sticks (not just something that sits in your drawer). You’ll leave with techniques to shift the voice in your head, tools to explore the deeper layers of your thinking, and a new way to listen, both to yourself and to others.
Who’s running this?
My name’s Jess Leondiou. I’ve been journaling all my life, but it wasn’t until much later that I understood the science behind it. Writing has been a tool I have used to my way through anxiety, depression and years of trying to make sense of myself. I’m definitely no a finished product, journaling is not a silver bullet but it is the most powerful tool I’ve come back to.
I’m the founder of Archleys, a brand focused on reflective tools that started with ideas I used to help myself, but we've grown; we’re now stocked in 40+ stores across Australia (including MONA and QAGOMA). I also host the Make Your Mind podcast, where I speak with philosophers, psychologists, and thinkers about how we shape and reshape our inner worlds.
But this isn’t a lecture. It’s a workshop. Which means we’ll be doing it together.
What we’ll cover:
How to build a habit that sticks (without relying on willpower)
How to reframe thoughts and shift self-talk
Why we get stuck in loops and how to write our way out
How journaling affects the brain, nervous system, and behaviour
Writing as a form of listening to yourself and to others
This is a space for anyone feeling a bit scrambled, a bit stuck, or just craving more depth in a fast-moving world. You don’t need to be a “writer” to come. You just need a pen, a bit of curiosity, and a willingness to explore what’s going on beneath the surface.
