Writing with Purpose: Professional Writing for Registration & CPD
Description
Professional Writing for Registration & CPD
A Two-Part CPD Series for Trainee and Registered Interpreters
Strong professional writing is an essential part of interpreter development, registration, and ongoing practice — yet many practitioners receive little practical guidance on how to approach it with confidence.
This professionally focused two-part CPD series is designed to support interpreters and communication professionals in developing clear, purposeful, and credible written practice across training, qualification, and post-registration professional development.
Whether you are working towards registration on you Level 6 course, preparing portfolio evidence, completing reflective accounts, or maintaining CPD documentation for regulators such as NRCPD or RSLI, these sessions provide practical strategies that can be applied directly to your professional work.
Rather than focusing on academic essay writing, the series centres on the kinds of writing interpreters are regularly expected to produce in practice — including reflective accounts, learning logs, portfolio evidence, case discussions, and CPD documentation.
Each session combines practical guidance, professional discussion, and structured approaches that participants can immediately apply within their own professional context.
Suitable for:
Pre-registration and trainee interpreters
TSLI and RSLI interpreters
Communication professionals working with reflective or professional documentation (Lipspeakers, STTRs, CSWs)

Reflective Writing with Purpose: Turning Experience into Professional Learning
Thursday 23 July 2026 | 18:00–19:30
Reflective writing is a central part of interpreter development, registration, and ongoing CPD — yet many practitioners struggle to move beyond description and write reflections that meaningfully demonstrate learning and professional growth.
This session offers a practical and structured approach to reflective writing, helping participants develop reflections that are thoughtful, focused, and professionally relevant.
Together, we will explore accessible reflective models, consider what makes reflective writing effective, and look at how professional experiences can be translated into clear evidence of learning and development.
Whether you are working towards qualification or maintaining post-registration CPD requirements, this session is designed to support reflective practice that feels authentic, manageable, and professionally valuable.
Learning Aims
To explore reflective writing as a practical tool for professional growth and development
To introduce structured approaches to reflective writing
To build confidence in producing meaningful reflective accounts for professional practice and CPD
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
Explain the role of reflective writing within interpreter development and CPD
