Discover the beauty of the Australian landscape through oil paint in this two-day workshop with artist and educator Kathy Ellem, hosted by Wangaratta Artists Society Inc.

Meet Kathy

Raised on an apple orchard in North East Victoria, Kathy brings a deep connection to country life to her paintings. Her work celebrates rural landscapes, character-filled gum trees and magnificent draught horses, using rich colour, texture and light to capture their presence.

Kathy’s journey into art began as a hobby in 2003. Her belief that skills grow through persistence and practice is central to her teaching—a reassuring message for anyone who has ever thought, “I can’t paint.” Kathy would encourage you to add one little word: “yet”.

Her teaching welcomes different experience levels and encourages artists to develop their own approach, with an emphasis on understanding light, shadow and colour.

Whether you’re beginning your journey with oils or developing an established painting practice, join us for two days devoted to landscape painting in a friendly, supportive setting. Bring your curiosity, your brushes and a willingness to explore!

• Suitable for: Beginners through to advanced artists
